Frequently asked
Where are you located?
1023 Grand Ave, Studio E, in the Grand Avenue arts district of downtown Phoenix, AZ 85007, a short walk from Roosevelt Row.
Can I just drop in?
We’re appointment-based, so the darkroom is open for scheduled workshops and open-lab print sessions rather than walk-in hours. Sign up for a class or a print session and you’re all set.
Are you ever open to the public?
Yes. We open our doors on most First Fridays. Follow us on Instagram or subscribe to our Substack for the latest dates.
Where do I park?
Street parking is usually easy to find along Grand Avenue and the surrounding blocks. Give yourself a couple of extra minutes on First Fridays, when the district gets busy.
Is the space accessible?
The studio is on the ground floor. If you have specific access needs, email us ahead at phxfilmrevival@gmail.com and we’ll make sure everything’s set for your visit.
Do I need any experience?
Not at all. Most workshops are beginner-friendly, and each class lists its recommended experience level.
Do I need my own camera or film?
It depends on the class. Some provide cameras and film; others ask you to bring your own. Each class description says exactly what’s included and what to bring.
Is there an age requirement?
Yes. Participants must be 18 or older to attend any workshop or open-lab session.
Can I bring a friend who isn’t registered?
Space is limited, so only registered participants can attend. Everyone coming needs to reserve their own spot.
What’s your cancellation or reschedule policy?
Life happens. Email us as early as you can at phxfilmrevival@gmail.com and we’ll do our best to move you to another session.
Do you offer private or group sessions?
Yes. Bachelor and bachelorette parties, team building, corporate events, and celebrations. Head to our Private Events page to send an inquiry.
What is a print session (open lab)?
Bookable darkroom time for experienced printers to work on their own. 2-hour blocks at $40, with three enlargers (35mm to 4×5) and a fully stocked wet line. See our Print Sessions page.
Can I rent the darkroom privately?
Darkroom access is through guided workshops and open-lab print sessions. We don’t offer standalone private rentals.
Do you develop or sell film?
We’re education-focused, so we don’t process or sell film, but we’ll gladly teach you to develop your own.
How do I show my work or get into a book?
Watch for our calls for art, announced on Substack and Instagram, then submit through our site when a call is open.
